Kegan had thought they were over the trauma of their childhood; their village burned, and their family and friends caught and sold by poachers. Years later, living happily in the city and a member of the resistance organization, they have found their purpose as a spymaster and cryptographer. But the poachers are back, and Kegan is convinced they are looking for that one calla that got away--Kegan. When one of their comrades goes missing, Kegan is given the assignment of hunting them down and getting them home safely. But this mission involves going back into the forest of their childhood and possibly into the snares of the poachers. Kegan must find the missing rebel before the king's guard does or the rebellion might be over before they can achieve their revolution. But can Kegan do so when poachers are hot on their heels? Scorched Scars takes place during the events of STARS AND SOIL but can be enjoyed on its own.
